Re: does anyone knowhow to tie in inverter to grid
If you buy a grid-tie inverter, it probably comes with instructions (-just any "inverter" can't be used for this-).
Before you did it yourself however, you might want to check with the utility company and see if that work needs to be done by a licensed electrician. In some states it does, and I believe you need your alternative-energy system hooked up by licensed installers to apply for federal rebates as well. -end- |

Re: does anyone knowhow to tie in inverter to grid
Around here some of our rural electric coop's
will subsidize the cost of the unit if it is used in with some form of power generation..IE..wind mill...or solar panels they will also need to inspect your installation as a minimum go see one of the utility's engineers or have them come out and describe what your going to do and get their subjestions and requirements they can also "hint" who could help you with the installation...sometimes some of their linemen do that sort of stuff on the side. here they are very cooperative because they want to make sure you put in a system that is safe for their linemen around here the utility coop's are extremely helpful and will send out a engineer to meet with you pretty much at the drop of a hat no charge |

Re: does anyone knowhow to tie in inverter to grid
Just make sure any inverter you tie to the grid meets UL 1741 standard and is listed as such. That means if the grid goes down, so does the tie of your inverter to the grid, so you don't backfeed power and kill a lineman.
